Why We Started Just Write Apps
Most modern apps are bloated, ad-stuffed notification traps. We're building single-purpose tools that stay offline and leave you alone.
Open almost any top app store download today and you’ll find the exact same playbook: aggressive paywalls, push notification spam, background analytics sucking your battery, and half-baked AI features nobody asked for shoehorned into every menu.
Software didn’t used to feel like this.
We started Just Write Apps with a straightforward thesis: build small, focused tools that do one thing exceptionally well, keep data strictly on your device, and never treat personal thoughts as ad inventory.
The Rules We Build By
- Local-first or nothing: If an app doesn’t genuinely need a remote server to function, it doesn’t have one. Your data lives in an encrypted sandbox on your hardware. We don’t want your private database on our servers.
- Tactile craftsmanship: We obsess over typography pairs, subtle frame animations, and millisecond tap latencies. Software should feel permanent and satisfying—like good physical stationery.
- No dark patterns: No subscription traps. No fake urgency countdowns. No telemetry spying on your keystrokes.
Our debut project is Reflective—a private, distraction-free journaling sanctuary built with Flutter and offline-first encryption. We’re building it in public and documenting every architectural trade-off as we go.
